Title

Agreement Between The Washington Post and Columbia Typographical Union No. 101-12 1990-2000

Subject

A small handbook outlining the details of the contract agreement between the local ITU chapter and The Washington Post.

Description

Through collective bargaining, the ITU members at The Washington Post obtained particular job protections. Among those engaged in bargaining on behalf of the union chapter was Deaf printer Jan DeLap, who is listed as a member of the Washington Post Scale Committee in the agreement. This contract included a memorandum of agreement which provided a job guarantee to those printers listed. This agreement would result in the retention of printers at The Post even as technology changed and, ultimately, led to the disappearance of printers through contract buy-outs.
