Video Description
The video begins with a title slide featuring a line drawing of a figure depicting the handshapes and movement for the vocabulary term, Pagination. With both hands in a P-handshape, palms facing outward, the signer traces a large rectangle in the space in front of their head and torso. Beginning in front of the face, both hands move simultaneously away from the head, stopping at approximately shoulder width, dropping down in a straight line to approximately mid-torso, then moving horizontally toward the center where the hands meet. Next in a video recording, Penny Herbold, a white older woman, defines the term in American Sign Language. She stands in front of a blue screen in a film studio.

I worked in an area called the Pagination Room, in ASL, PAGINATION. That was where the Classified Ads were created. After they’d been prepared in long columns, they were printed and sent on for paste-up. I worked on Sundays. I would always make it clear to everyone, “Please don’t make a lot of changes and move things around!” Too many changes would cause hang-ups. When that happened, I’d have to make a phone call to the technician to come and fix it and we’d have to wait and wait. I warned them, “If you mix things up, you can’t go home early. You’ll have to stay until the end of your shift!” After that, I saw a huge improvement! It was a wonderful experience.
