Video Description
The video begins with a title slide featuring a line drawing of a figure depicting the handshapes and movement for the vocabulary term, Slipboard. Using the dominant hand, the signer begins with a U handshape, palm oriented outward, at chin height. In a fluid movement, the hand is rotated at the wrist so that the palm is oriented toward the signer in an H handshape. Next in a video recording, Mike Golightly, a white older male, defines the term in American Sign Language. He stands in front of a blue screen in a film studio.

Now, related to printers themselves, the slipboard. A large board, with printers names listed in columns. To work each day, you needed to go to the slipboard, find your name in the list, and flip it to indicate that you were available for work. Then you would wait until the boss assigned you for work. Then you’d run over to start work. When finished working, we all had to make sure we flipped our names back over. If you forgot to flip it over, you’d be penalized: for six months you were unable to work on site.
