Video Description

The video begins with a title slide featuring a line drawing of a figure depicting the handshapes and movement for the vocabulary term, Slug. At mid-torso, the signer uses both hands in H handshapes, palms oriented toward the signer, to depict the laying of lead slugs in a galley. The non-dominant hand remains still. In front of the non-dominant hand, toward the viewer, the dominant hand rotates at the wrist so that the fingers are oriented upwards, then horizontal, then upward again in a repeating movement. With each upward movement, the hand moves forward, away from the non-dominant handshape. Next in a video recording, Brian Brizendine, a white older male, defines the term in American Sign Language. He stands in front of a blue screen in a film studio.

Transcription

Now, another sign for that work was slugs, SLUG. The make-up page was printed and a proof was reviewed by proofreaders. Their corrections were delivered and we’d sign SLUG, to mean they’d make the corrections by removing the line of text and replacing it with corrected slug. That was signed like this.
